On this World Health Day, Pre Primary Wing of Sumitra Montessori School conducted a “Pretend and Play” activity wherein the Toddlers made the doll brush her teeth, take bath, cut her nails, comb her hair, made her wear the school uniform supporting independent dressing skills among the students. The Children had a gala time in this activity learning essential daily hygiene measures and independent life skills for school. Along with this , the children took up specially and carefully designed activity sheets pertaining to “Happy Tooth and Sad Tooth”, where the children were made to understand the affect of different types of food on their oral health. For example children pasted junk food icons on the sad tooth and healthy food items on the happy tooth. The outcome from this activity helped the children learn about right and wrong food intake and their affects on their overall health.
Children from Primary wing prepared their own tooth dentures learning four different types of teeth, namely Incisors, Canines, Premolars and Molars. While many of us may not put too much thought into our teeth every day, their importance and function in our daily lives cannot be underestimated. From chewing our food to helping us smile and speak, teeth perform such a vital role in the way we live.
The Middle School students actively participated in Creative writing competition on the topics, “Health is wealth” and “Healthy mind resides in a Healthy Body” with a supporting visual presentation.
